Wayne Boyd

ADS’s co-founder and Chief Technical Officer, Wayne Boyd, is a Control Systems Engineer with extensive experience designing industrial control systems and products for critical applications. Wayne has served as a technical manager for many years.

Wayne received a bachelor’s degree from Robert Gordon University, majoring in electrical and electronic engineering, as well as a master’s degree in Digital Systems Engineering from Heriot-Watt University. Following school, Wayne spent 13 years with JCE, a hazardous area equipment design and manufacturing company in the oil and gas sector. While at JCE, Wayne started and built a digital systems division which designed and manufactured a range of monitoring and control products for critical industrial applications. During his time at JCE Wayne completed a Master's of Business Administration (MBA) program at Robert Gordon University and also earned his status as a Chartered Engineer.

Wayne then joined the global leader in dive equipment manufacturing; Divex Ltd, in the role of Control Systems Manager. In this role, Wayne lead the control systems team in their efforts to design and build the fully automated electronic control systems for the saturation diving complexes on-board the new-build Dive Support Vessels Skandi Arctic and Seven Atlantic.

After leaving Divex in 2007, Wayne formed Fetcas Control Ltd which designed and implemented many industrial control systems and embedded electronic solutions for major oil industry customers. Much of this work involved the use of high-reliability electronic hardware and software systems.

Wayne also served as the Chief Technical Officer of Mechanical Integrity Inc., a company based in Houston Texas, providing products and services to the non-destructive testing (NDT) industry. Mechanical Integrity’s product activities were focused on the design and manufacture of advanced NDT systems including a range of robotic systems and their control software and electronics. Mechanical Integrity was successfully sold in 2010 to TUV SUD (forming their advanced inspection services division).

Wayne co-founded Advanced Diving Systems in 2012. He is based in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
